The duo Rousselle-Cohendet is born under the name of Bien
Sabroso in 1992.
Bruno "Madgik" Rousselle* (Biography below at page bottom) brought his Rhodes keyboard and Franck Al Yamine Cohendet brought his tumbadoras, for a meeting organized by a pianist friend of both. Since the begining the alchemy works wonderfully : the improvisation, adaptation and musical half-casting are still being the main ingredients.
It's a "butterfly" band, wich transforms itself in an evolving sense few times : in 1994, the group becomes El Gran Nexo, playing trio, 5tet, & 7tet ; and it's since 2002 that CUBANA BOP is the band name.
Cubana Bop, referencing to the tune composed in 1947 and played by
Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo, is a tribute to these two musicians who influence by a determining maner the half-casting and the exchange between traditional and folklorics afrocuban rythms and jazz.
CUBANA BOP express the continuation of this musical half-casting called Latin Jazz or
Afrocuban Jazz, playing the compositions of Bruno Madgik Rousselle*, and the arrangement of jazz and latin jazz standards realized by the duo.
Bruno* has brought his jazz piano to the sauce, and Franck the afrocuban rythms played on his tumbas and timbales.
The independance needed to execute four parts of different instrument in the same time (usualy near the complete rythmic section in a salsa/latin jazz band : bass+piano+tumbas+timbales) by these two musicians, brings their prestation to be visual : Bruno* plays the bass line with left hand and melodies+improvisation with right hand, and Franck plays the tumbadoras with left hand and timbales with right hand.
So, no numeric programmation in the CUBANA BOP game, their sound is exclusively acoustic (excepted the electronic piano sound, when it's impossible to Bruno* to play on a real piano).
Their friendship for more than 15th years give them a deep collusion during the improvisations, wich express this particular maner to play music that we can meet in jazz and salsa, in jams sessions or "descargas", and wich let a large place to the solists.
Since the begining of the story, the duo is the central stone of this band, which can extend itself to answer to the musical productions requirements. CUBANA BOP is often playing duo, with Bruno Madgik Rousselle* on piano or keyboard, and Franck Al Yamine Cohendet on percussions, but the band can also play trio, quartet and quintet.

En 1992, el duo Rousselle-Cohendet se forma bajo el nombre de Bien Sabroso.
Bruno "Madgik" Rousselle* (Biografía abajo) trajo su piano electrónico Rhodes y Franck Al Yamine Cohendet trajo sus tumbadoras, para una reunión organizada por un amigo pianista de los dos. Despues el principio la alquimia funciona maravillosamente : la improvisación, la adaptación y el mestizaje musical son todavía los ingredientes principales.
Es un grupo "mariposa", que se ha transformado varias veces en un sentido evolutivo : en 1994 la banda se convirtio en El Gran Nexo, tocando en trio, 5t° y 7t° ; y desde 2002 su nombre es CUBANA BOP.
Cubana Bop, en referencia al título compuesto en 1947 y tocado por Dizzy Gillespie y Chano Pozo, es un homenaje a esos dos músicos que han infuído de una manera determinante en el mestizaje y el intercambio entre los ritmos tracionales y folklóricos afro-cubanos y el jazz.
CUBANA BOP expresa la continuación de este mestizaje musical llamado Jazz Latino o Jazz Afrocubano, al tocar las composiciones de Bruno Madgik Rousselle*, y los arreglos de los clásicos de jazz o jazz latino realizados por el duo.
Bruno* ha traido su piano jazz en la salsa, y Franck ha traido su tumbas y timbales.
La independencia que se necesita para ejecutar cuatro partes instrumentales en un mismo tiempo (usualmente en la sección rítmica salsa/jazz latino casi completa : bass+piano+tumbas+timbales) por esos dos musicos, muestra su presentación en forma visual :
Bruno* toca el bajo con la mano izquierda y las melodias del piano con la mano derecha , y Franck toca las tumdoras con la mano izquierda y el timbal a la derecha.
Entonces, no hay progamación numérica en el juego de CUBANA BOP, el sonido es exclusivamente acústico (excepto el piano numérico, cuando Bruno* no puede tocar con un piano de concierto o derecho).
